Oval Cut Natural Diamond Engagement Ring

An oval diamond has the brilliance of a round, in an elongated shape. The elongation makes the stone look 5–10% larger than a round of the same carat weight, and it visually slims the finger.

Best settings for a oval centre stone

Four-prong or six-prong with prongs at the north–south–east–west positions works best for an oval. A solitaire lets the oval do everything; a halo adds a frame of smaller diamonds and makes the centre look 25–30% larger; a three stone setting flanks the centre with two accent diamonds.

What to expect on the finger
